Grrr

In its ongoing campaign to make this city suck, the City of Montreal has clamped down on the Mile End Cultural Centre for having the wrong permit, which is bureaucratese for being too noisy. You’ll find my freshly-posted rant on the subject over at Metroblogging Montreal.
Incidentally, if you’ve ever wondered what my dissertation is actually about, you may consider this a clue.

300 signatures (exactly) in the five hours between the time you posted your rant and the time I signed. Don’t know if that’s good or bad.
What I do suspect is bad is the predominance of anglophone/allophone names, the fact that the main language of comments is english, and the lack of postal codes.
So you are writing about morons who move into neighborhoods since they are the place to be, then proceed to suck the life out of them so they resemble the bland places where they came from.
(Laughs.) Well, something like that. ;)
Actually, at some point I’d like to pick your brain about how architects and developers deal with the issue of sound. Are you game?
Sure. That issue came up recently on a project I’ve been working on near Ottawa that was near an expressway. I’m not an expert in it, but I know some of the guidelines.
Cool, thanks!
