Suddenly, summer. There is never a transition in Montreal, no slow blossoming to smooth the change. One day, you wake up and it is twenty-three degrees, and even the snow is caught off guard.
Befitting the weather, I’ve decided to let some air in here. You’ll let me know what you think.

Until a Russian immigrant complained to me that Canada is ok except that… there’s no spring, I hadn’t realised that I didn’t know what spring was. I still don’t. Probably never will.

We had spring in Toronto. Not a European spring, mind, but it was lovely just the same. It’s strange not to see leaves on the trees when it’s warm like this, and even stranger to see plant shoots coming up through snow. Still, I’ll take it.
