Welcome to my world. On one hand building and construction are noble deeds, but oddly it can have a destructive aspect to it at the same time.
It’s always been a joke among structural engineers that design architects want a column. But they want to give the impression that the floor slab is not connected to it. That the slab is floating in space defying the laws of physics. Looks like somebody got their wish by installing a decorative column in that first pic.
So that’s what that is. I was wondering…
The last one is being built right beside my friend Arit’s apartment. The side wall, when it’s finished, will block off her kitchen, office, and bedroom windows, as well as those of her neighbours. Each day, she’s taken pictures of the construction of the wall, which she plans to turn into a short animated film. I think she should call it “Rent Reduction.”
Hey! Even landlords who are evil enough to have condos built beside their buildings have mortgages to pay!
(Alison, who has migrated to the Other Side.)
And me without my light sabre. (Grins.)
Anyway, Arit’s landlord owns a couple dozen properties, so I doubt you’re in the same league.
